Council News
School Council met on Monday night and what a marathon it was...meetings normally finish at 9.30pm, we did not get away till closer to 10.30pm! Maree Edleston, was a guest at the meeting and presented some marvellous ideas for a mural at our school. Maree has put an enormous amount of time and effort into this project already and she is ready to go with a beautiful landscape design of the surrounding countryside. The mural will be 2.1m by 4.1m, it will be located near the entrance to the Prep building and the kids will get the opportunity to help with its creation. Work will start early term 2 so keep a look out.
Pat also announced $80,000 funding through stage 3 of the B.E.R. funding introduced by the Federal Government. B.E.R. is the Building Education Revolution, this money must be spent on maintenance around the school. The Facilities and Environment Committee will discuss priority areas for this money to be used.
Other rounds of the B.E.R. will become available later for other works….stay tuned.
The Seville Community Festival was discussed, Seville Primary School will have a key role in the organisation of this festival and we are very excited about the potential benefits to our school.
Facilities and Environment have put forward some dates for working bees, keep an eye out for these early in term 2 as we really needs lots of helpers to get work done. A survey will come out in term 2 also asking which days suit you best to attend working bees and also raising the question of whether families would prefer to pay a levy than come to a working bee?
Fundraising are planning for Mother’s Day at the moment as well as Open Night and the Seville Community Festival.
All these groups would love extra faces to come along, you don’t have to be on council to join, meetings are usually held on a Monday night in the pigpen, check the board in the pigpen or hotline for dates and times.
