P.I.G. Pen
Our Mural
The front page of HOTLINE today has the original artwork for our mural. Congratulations to Maree
Edleston on her creative vision. As I’m sure you have all noticed our project has begun! From next Friday,
May 1st, families are welcome to join in this activity from lunchtime onwards. Children, who would like to
participate, will be selected from class to join in. The first kids to take part will be those who have someone
come along to be a part of this great PIG’s activity. It will be wonderful to see this beautiful representation
of our surrounding landscape evolve.

Pig Drawings
Three more examples of how creative our kids are appear this week. Maddy and Livy have created a joint
piece for us, Cain worked with his sister Amber on his and Tom C has written this wonderful piece. Well
done! We have some other works that are A3 in size, so we haven’t included them yet…….but we will.
Our collection of beautiful, original mugs in the pigpen is growing, but we need more. So this week could
Amber, Cain and Tom come along to create theirs, please? Mr. Hillas is enjoying using a different mug
each time he visits. Remember, you need to give us a drawing to be able to do a mug!! Check out “The
Piggery” on our school website and you will be able to view ALL the fantastic pig drawings in glorious
colour.
Footy Tipping
It’s still not too late to join in the fun with our Footy Tipping competition. If you join up at this point you
will still have the chance of racing ahead of the rest of us. The star tipper last week was Lily Black with 8
correct! How did she do that, I wonder? Even though the season has started, it’s definitely not too late to
join. You can have multiple entries on the one email address, so all family members can take part. Extended
family members, friends, neighbours and, in fact, anyone from our wider community is very welcome to
join. Once you have logged in just click on “find competition” and enter “Seville”. This will then have you
displayed on our ladder. Check out the website, and if you haven’t already done so, please make it your
homepage. This simple act will benefit our school. It is also a great way for grandparents or anyone else
who is interested to access Hotline and keep up to date with what’s happening at Seville Primary School. It
is also very handy to be able to check up on dates of upcoming events, when you can’t put your hands on the
hard copy of our newsletter.
Celebrating Seville Festival
We are pleased to report that our Festival grant application was submitted to the Shire of Yarra Ranges on
April 16th, as required. The two folders of documentation will hopefully see us successful in receiving up to
$10,000 to assist in staging our first festival. The interest and response to our festival plans is such that no
matter what the result is of our shire grant application, the Celebrating Seville Festival will take place! So
make sure you mark NOVEMBER 8th on your calendar now. We will keep you up to date on the progress
of our planning in HOTLINE, on our website www.sevilleps.vic.edu.au which has a link to the festival and
in the pigpen, where we will display ideas and plans as they evolve.
Open Night
We have the opportunity with Open Night on May 18th to have all aspects of our school on display. To make
it easier for prospective parents to identify current parents, and therefore able to approach them with any
questions, we have come up with a way novel approach! Similar to the “teacher on duty” sash, we will have
a sash/scarf to be worn with a nametag. Having 20 or so parents easily identifiable in this way will not only
be helpful, it will also visually demonstrate the parent involvement in our school. Please put your name on
the list in the pigpen if you would be happy to help out in this way. Having mums and dads from all year
levels would be fantastic!
